Directions to the Airport from Blue Waters
- Exiting Blue Waters, turn left on Victoria Rd and immediately right onto Houghton Road
- Continue up the hill to the stop sign at the junction with Camps Bay Drive, and turn right
- Follow Camps Bay Drive (M62) up and over Kloof Nek (between signal hill on your left and the cable car station on the right) and then down the other side
- Continue down Kloof Nek Road (M62) and veer left onto Upper Buitengracht St (road divides with oncoming traffic directly ahead)
- Proceed down Buitengracht St towards the V&A Waterfront where Buitengracht St merges directly onto the freeway to become the N1
- Continue along the N1 for 2km and veer right onto the N2 towards the airport & Somerset West
- Follow signs for Cape Town International Airport
- Exit the N2 freeway at exit number 16 (marked Cape Town International Airport)
The journey usually takes about 30 minutes, but may take up to 1 hour during rush hour traffic.
Please allow extra time when returning a rental/hire car in addition to the check in times – 1 hour for domestic flights and 2 hours for international flights (at time of writing).
VAT Refunds
- Foreign visitors leaving South Africa may claim back Value Added Tax on purchases from the VAT refund administrator. The goods have to be shown to the administrator before check-in.
- The VAT refund office is on the ground level of International Departures. Only after a passenger has checked in and passed through passport control is the value of the VAT (less the administrator's commission) paid back. This happens on the ground level of International Departures, between passport control and the boarding gates.
